New York uses 23 billion plastic bags every year at great cost to our communities, wildlife, and environment. Unless we do something about this, by 2050 there will be more plastic in the oceans than fish. When we take responsibility for our impact as communities, the scourge of plastic waste can start to disappear.
The recent New York State Plastic Bag Task Force Report adds further evidence to the international problem of plastic waste management. The best way to reduce plastic waste is by limiting its circulation through fees on plastic and paper bags. Tell Governor Cuomo to take action by supporting a fee on all single-use bags!
