Davis-Besse Power Station in Oak Harbor and the Perry Nuclear Power Plant in Perry provide enough electricity to power more than 2.8 million Ohio homes. Unlike intermittent energy sources that rely on wind and sun, these plants are designed to operate around-the-clock and lead the power generation industry in terms of reliability. But nuclear plants in our state are facing unprecedented challenges related to competitive markets that don’t adequately compensate them for their unique contributions to our energy mix.

In Ohio, we’re supporting legislators as they work on plans to help preserve our state’s baseload nuclear plants through Senate Bill 128 and House Bill 381, also known as the Clean Jobs bill. This bill is similar to actions taken in New York and Illinois to protect nuclear power generation.

We know these plants are critical to our communities, but your elected officials need to hear that message from you. Davis-Besse Power Station in Oak Harbor, and the Perry Nuclear Power Plant in Perry, provide 11 percent of the electricity used in Ohio – enough to power more than 2.8 million homes.
They have an onsite fuel supply that doesn’t require a transportation network for daily fuel delivery.
But we need your help to help protect our nuclear energy plants.
