The implementation of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), has helped thousands of Nevadans gain access to healthcare. In 2010, Nevada had one of the largest uninsured rates nationally at 19%, accounting for 621,000 uninsured Nevadans.
Under the expansion of Medicaid coverage through the ACA, access to healthcare was provided to some of Nevada's most vulnerable residents, including kids, seniors, and people with disabilities.
From 2013 to 2016, over 300,000 Nevadans obtained coverage through public programs, another 149,000 gained health insurance through private insurers.
These coverage gains would be lost if the ACA were repealed, along with critical protections for people with pre-existing conditions, guaranteed coverage of free preventative services, and more.
Take action today to let your legislator know why access to quality, affordable health care matters to you. Tell them your health care story and ask them to protect and work to improve access to health care for all Nevadans.
